Many khachqars have been destroyed in the world. In the same world have been born and are born khachqars. Almost 450 of them possess their individual stories and features. These khachqars were created on the base of strong and ancient roots of khachqarmaking, developed by the unique handwriting of the master and by the deep perception of the world and space. The author of these khachqars is  Varazdat Hambardzumyan - a national master and khachqar creator, a golden medal owner of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Armenia.
He was born in 1960 in Yerevan.
Since 1988 the creative biography has begun.
He is married and has five children.
The khachqars of the master are visible in the USA, Italy, Netherland, Canada, Greece, Switzerland, France, Denmark, Belgium, the UAE, and Turkey - in the walls of the Armenian Church, Russia and the Ukraine, as well as in the various churches of the RA and Artsakh.

In 2006 he received the prize «Unique and great mastery» for the khachqar set for the commemoration of the victims of the Genocide. The khachqar is placed in the churchyard of Surb Davit (Saint Davit), Miami.
In 2009 he was given the medal «Motherland Defender» in Artsakh.
In 2009 while presenting the Republic of Armenia at the «World Alliance of Peace» in Moscow he received the medal «Talent and Title».
He received diplomas for the khachqars for the memory of deceased soldiers.
In March, 2010 there has been organized individual exhibition of almost 50 sketches and photos of the works of Varazdat Hambardzumyan and he was given the golden medal of the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Armenia and the medal of the Mkhitaryan Unity – Venice.
On the 28th of May, 2010 the next exhibition was presented at the Memorial of Sardarapat Heroes. That day also took place the opening of the khachqar-monument for the remembrance of Vagharshak Shahinyan, the Battalion Commander and the hero of Sardarapat Heroes, which was created by the Master. On the 17th of June, 2010 at the death anniversary of Paruyr Sevak, the ossuary of the poet was surrounded by the photos of khachqars of the Master.

The sketch of the khachqar «Anlreli Zangagatun» was exhibited and presented to the museum that day.

The creative activity of the Master is being continued, the works of which enrich centuries-old art of national cross treasury in various places and waves.

At present Varazdan Hambardzumyan lives in Yerevan with his wife and children.
